On our first proper movie-and-dinner date Nick and I watched the very romantic "The Eyes of Tammy Faye" (which I highly recommend, by the way. Talking hand-puppets voiced by a six-foot-seven drag queen? Come on. Gotta love it). During dinner at Tellers I piqued Nick's interest even more by proclaiming that I can sometimes be very "erratic." He thought I'd said "erotic" and got pretty excited.

You forgot to mention that the documentary was very fair to her and it's really her that pokes fun at herself. Actually, made her look pretty good for something that most people went into the theater thinking would be a hatchet job. Her work with AIDS patients in the '80's was a rarity at the time.
ReplyDeleteAnd the fact that you wanted to see that movie was purty cool. A good indicator of your tastes.
And about the "erotic" thing: I was intrigued. But "pretty excited" makes me sound like a dog. I actually thought it was either a Freudian slip or a possible mis-translation. Or maybe that I was just hearing what a certain part of me was was just wanting to hear. But still, you said "erotic".
And I still continued to be a gentlemen. Though we may have gone Dutch on that date. Can't remember.

I definitely said "erratic." Ha! Definitely... Love you.
ReplyDeletei felt the same way about the documentary. she came off eccentric yet loving and lovable, unlike some (any, really) other televangelists i can think of.
ReplyDeleteand erratic behavior can be very erotic when it plays out in the arena of wardrobe malfunction.
